Costa Rica Goalkeeper Navas Ascends to Heaven Following Messi Penalty Save

The Paris Saint-Germain soccer team will be without Keylor Navas indefinitely after the Costa Rican goalkeeper ascended to Heaven following his save of a Lionel Messi penalty kick last week.

Navas, who is already seen as a deity in his native Costa Rica, was summoned to Heaven by the Holy Spirit during a postgame press conference in Paris and is currently seated at the right hand of the Lord, according to his twitter page.

Diay, Heaven is so chiva, mae,” Navas tweeted beneath a photo of himself with his arm around Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “It’s definitely a step up from Perez Zeledón, though I think the Osa Peninsula is actually still cooler.”

Navas, whose save of Messi’s penalty kick propelled his team to Champions League glory last week, signed a temporary contract with the Kingdom of Heaven FC, which will send frankincense, myrrh, gold, eternal life and swaddling clothes to Paris Saint-Germain in exchange for the goalkeeper’s services. While Paris Saint-Germain expressed disappointment to be without Navas during the final weeks of the season, coach Mauricio Pochettino said he understands that ascension to Heaven is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“It definitely seemed like there was divine intervention that sent Messi’s shot off of Navas, then the crossbar, and then back out into the field of play,” Pochettino said. “I’m not really a believer in this crap, but if it helps the team advance in Champions League, great. We just hope that God doesn’t take Mbappe any time soon.”
