This week’s M.O.T.W. is Puerto Viejo native “Monsta P.” Born in the town of Sixaola, “P” — whose given name is Michael Connors — moved to the big city when he was 15 seeking better opportunities. Now 34, P has utterly dominated PV’s coconut scene, currently ranking as the town’s 4th most successful vendor who doesn’t own footwear.
Though P hasn’t worked in six months as his bike bell is being repaired, he keeps busy by mumbling in Patwa to people who have no idea what he’s saying and perfecting his puro rolling skills. In his free time, P enjoys napping in other people’s hammocks, serving under-cooked Pati to gringos, and searching for the meaning of life. He and his sixteen brothers currently reside under a tree with someone’s parents.
